Hosting the 48th Annual Conference of AEDEAN (Asociación Española de Estudios Anglo Norteamericanos) at the University of the Basque Country (EHU) from November 12th to 14th, 2025, was an outstanding milestone for our institution and a major endeavor that required a persistent effort from all involved. This was the second time the annual AEDEAN Conference has been held in Vitoria-Gasteiz; the first one was in 1990.

The literature section of this volume primarily focuses on contemporary approaches to literary criticism, cognitive theory, gender studies, and current ethical and social issues, featuring works on identity, queer motherhood, and contemporary crises. Meanwhile, the linguistics section brings together studies on syntax, grammar acquisition, sociolinguistics, and the historical variation of English, with particular attention to dialectal phenomena and linguistic change in Early and Late Modern English. In addition, several contributions explore issues related to language policy, code-mixing, and interculturality within educational and multilingual contexts. Finally, the section also examines the pedagogical potential of new tools and methodologies for English language teaching and learning, including video games and intercultural approaches.
