“Introduction to Geological Mapping” tries to overcome the lack of existing literature that links theoretical concepts and practical exercises embodied in geological maps. This book starts from several cutout plates, continues by relating basic cartographic elements with topography, and finishes with the interpretation of more complicated geological maps.

This book is the result of many years of teaching undergraduated students. During this time we selected, prepared, and experimented with numerous map exercises now present as a coherent package for your teaching convenience.

Because of its internal structure, from the simplest to the most complicated, this book may be a useful pedagogic resource at every teaching level in which geological mapping is being taught. By learning basic geological structures and their cartographic representation, and with a little bit of “geological common sense”, in a short time it would be possible to interpret advanced geological maps.
